We have a long history with Carillion and have worked for various parts of this worldwide construction services group. Commissions have ranged from dilapidations surveys and progress photography, to assisting with the writing and compilation of bid documents, to publicising public consultation events, to the development of an exciting web-based project management system.
Examples of two of our projects show the diversity of our involvement :

CASE STUDY: Carillion Rail Presentation
We were asked by Carillion Rail to write and produce an award ceremony presentation within an extremely demanding timescale, having previously provided on-site photography and display material. With only one week from commission to delivery, we collated and checked facts, selected relevant photography and produced a presentation with speaker’s notes, ready for their big moment.

CASE STUDY: Regional Prime Central (RPC) - Core Works Electronic Handbook
We worked with the senior RPC team to research, develop, write and build an online handbook. The resulting application uses the familiar navigation of a website and contains guidance and tools for project staff, accessible via any internet connection for ease of use on site. Carillion staff are able to update documents themselves and we provide ongoing technical and administrative support.
Clare and her team really rose to the challenge in developing the Core Works Handbook. Working with a large group of stakeholders, they grasped a complex process and translated it into something user-friendly, practical and flexible. The finished product certainly surpasses our original aspirations.

We have worked with Miller to produce tender submissions, as well as regularly undertaking dilapidations surveys on various sites.
Our team's construction background means that we start from a position of understanding - we know the issues and can lead the process, if required.

CASE STUDY: Dilapidations Surveys - Leicester Schools
Detailed photographic surveys were undertaken out of term time to record the existing condition of various redevelopment sites. Specified areas - from existing building elevations to roads and fences - were carefully photographed. measured and annotated to reflect existing damage and current condition ahead of construction work. The surveys are presented on USB sticks and in printed format, with high quality photographs pinpointing any area within the scope of the survey.

  • Project profiles - technical writing
  • Bespoke brochures - concept design, technical writing, print & production
  • Bid documents - concept design, technical input / technical writing, print & production

CASE STUDY: Dudley Evolve Tender
c3 worked with ISG on their successful bid for a new learning centre for Dudley College. We designed, wrote, managed and produced a tailored bid, focused on matching ISG's considerable skills to the specific needs of the project. An eye-catching design was used to present meticulously researched proposals that gave the Client confidence in the Contractor's robust plans for the scheme.

CASE STUDY: London 2012 Olympics coffee-table book
We worked from a brief prepared by ISG’s in-house marketing team to research and write the copy for this high-impact book. The book is a flexible marketing tool that describes ISG’s Olympics overlay works both in overview - with interviews, statistics and soundbites - and in project-by-project detail.

Clare has worked with us on a number of business critical bids. She has always done a tremendous job, providing a creative and well presented set of documentation within what are always demanding time frames. Clare has great insight and provides valuable input into the content and strategy associated with any tender - she is one of those people who takes your problems away and can be 100% relied on. There is no question as to the lengths she will go to make a project a success, I would recommend c3 to anyone looking for a professional and reliable service.

CASE STUDY: Tipton Swimming Centre Tender
c3 worked with Shepherd Construction to develop a bid response for a public sector project. The document needed to reflect the look and feel of other Shepherd material whilst having a character of its own, relevant to the project.

We helped the bid team to shape their strategy and initiated a tailored programme for local employment and training - a key element of the awarding authority's requirements. Bid team members were able to focus on their specific tasks while we developed copy and content that addressed the stipulations of the tender.
Thanks, c3, for your support. We were certainly very impressed with the service received - proactive autonomy to a level that we have previously not experienced. There will definitely be opportunities to work together again in the future.

William Hare Ltd

CASE STUDY: Bloomberg Tender
Our brief was to design a tender submission that showcased William Hare's ability to take complex designs and translate them into workable solutions. We also needed to find a way to help the recipient to navigate around the necessarily complex document.

Our team created a stylised version of the project artwork and laid it over Hare's own computer generated image of the actual steel frame (above left). A 'tear' was introduced to reveal Hare's realisation of the building, emphasising their capability to deliver. This was printed onto a paper-over-board slipcase housing a simple, over-printed stainless steel effect folder (above right).

We managed the navigation issue by introducing a fold-out flap on the covering letter, which was printed onto heavyweight paper. When the reader turns the page and folds out the flap, the contents list is visible at all times.
